Maundy Thursday (March 24) 7:00 p.m. Holy Communion with Stripping of the Altar in remembrance of Jesus Last Supper

St. Anne’s Good Friday Service of  Tenebrae (March 25) at  10:00 a.m. with Readings of the Passion of Christ and Full Choir with special Anthems and Congregational Hymns.

Tenebrae (Latin for shadows or darkness) is a tradition of the early church dating back to the eighth century which commemorates the final hours of Christ's life on earth as He prepared for and suffered death on the cross. The liturgy of Tenebrae is characterized by the gradual extinguishing of candles while a series of reading and psalms are chanted or recited. This exceptionally moving work has become a staple in Holy Week repertoire for many church choirs, and will be presented by our Choir on Good Friday. Anyone willing to assist with this service is asked to contact the office as soon as possible – we need readers who will also extinguish candles and a team to darken the church prior to the service. Thank you in advance.

St. Anne’s  Stations of the Cross  (available online)
are availalbe online for your private meditation. Use the self-guided meditational "walk" that will guide you to the 14 Stations of the Cross. Each Station bears its own witness to Our Lord’s final grueling journey. Who will you identify with? Perhaps with Simon of Cyrene who helps and picks up the cross, or perhaps with Veronica who steps out of the crowd to wipe the sweat from His eyes?  Take time this Lent, to not only “talk the talk”, but also “walk the walk”. Experience what happened over 2,000 years ago and know how much He loved us then and how much He loves us now.
